مؤسس مجموعة الطوق هو الشيخ إبراهيم عبد العزيز الطوق. ولد في عام 1940 في الأحساء، المملكة العربية السعودية. من 1959-1967 درس الهندسة المدنية في جامعات القاهرة ومصر وشتوتغارت، ألمانيا. بعد ذلك درس اللغة الإنجليزية في جامعة كامبريدج، إنجلترا 1967-1969. بدأ حياته المهنية مع مجموعة الجفالي في عام 1970 وتقاعد في عام 1995 بعد أن شغل منصب جنرال موتورز لأكثر من 25 عاما.
He was the Chairman of the board of Banque Saudi Fransi from 1988-89 until resigning in early 2011. Sheikh Ibrahim is also the former Chairman of the Riyadh Chamber of Commerce and Industry for the period of 1988-1992.
Well recognized in the business and banking community, Sheikh Ibrahim AlTouq currently chairs or is a board member of many companies. He has been awarded many international awards, such as the "Chevalier de la Légion d'honneur" award in 1998 from the President of France, in recognition of his continuous efforts in promoting Saudi-French business cooperation.
His style of value and impact investing has benefitted the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on a sustained basis for decades, creating employment for Saudi, leading to industrial and economic development in the Kingdom as well as establishing iconic companies as founder shareholder which form part of his legacy of success.
His demonstrated philosophy of patronage of national institutions, non-profit and charitable organizations goes a long way back. Some of the many such institutions where he has lent his time and intellect include:
